Artist Statement
Throughout my life, I have noticed a rather mysterious stream of consciousness
that seems to expose itself in virtually every situation that we experience,
both arguably momentous and altogether ordinary .....
What is the grouting that splices the mosaic of our lives together with such precision?
What is it made of?
How do we ultimately arrive at our destiny point?
Can we actually alter that reality?
The paintings, I believe, speak to that basic quest ..... to my quest .....
How do situations link?
How do coincidences occur?
Are they, in point of fact, coincidences at all?
Is 'everything really everything'?
How does religion shape our world?
Is god within?
The work seems to be a regurgitation of sorts of the things
that I have seen ..... experienced ..... wondered about .....
A small stab at understanding the 'jumbled effect' of our universe .....
the underlying shaping of an overlapping predetermination .....
The application of the paint?
Same thing .....
Layer upon layer of color, item, history, circumstance .....
Not really arbitrary whatsoever, but contrarily, specific .....
Juxtaposition .....
The connective tissue floating just remotely above the earth's atmosphere ....
The vein structure ..... the symbiotic matter .....
ever so delicately suggestive ..... ever so boldly defined .....
My hope is that the viewer will be oddly disconcerted
by the level of familiarity in the scene .....
Perhaps evoking some sense of nostalgia ..... longing ..... and frenzy ......
